Grill a Priest – Friday 13 November

Every journey of faith is shaped by questions. Sometimes one good question is all it takes to switch the light on.

A light-bulb moment

For Fr Timothy Ezat, the light-bulb moment came when he began asking how the Bible was put together. Who wrote it? How were its books gathered? Who decided what belonged? The answers amazed him – and, as good answers often do, they opened up an even deeper question: how did the New Testament come to be recognised as Scripture, and how does it lead us to salvation in Jesus Christ?

Two books

As a young Christian, Rev. Mark Koenig wrestled with a question many of us share: how do the Bible and the world around us – the world of creation and science – fit together? The breakthrough came one day in Oxford, when he put the question to his tutor. The tutor pointed him to the theologian Karl Barth, and to an idea that has stayed with him ever since: God has given us two books. The first is the Bible. The second is the book of creation – the world in which every one of us lives, walks and wonders.

What’s your question?

Perhaps there’s a question that has been nagging at you for years. Perhaps it’s one that could help you take the next step in your life or your faith. Whatever it is, bring it along! Fr Timothy and Rev. Mark will be in the hot seat, and no question is too big, too small or too difficult.
