What you need to know this week

Welcome to our new look weekly news! Keep reading to the end to hear more about this.

This Sunday is our Harvest festival and parade service at 10:30am. We will be supporting Bexley Foodbank and you can find out more about the items they’re asking for and what to donate this Sunday here.

For many of us, the annual harvest festival marks the beginning of autumn, even if the weather doesn’t seem to realise what season we're in. Please do check out all our Autumn events.

Open Door
The October lunch club meal will be taking place this Saturday (3 October) from 12pm in the church. Open Door Lunch Club for people who live alone in Falconwood. If you know someone who would enjoy this please contact Stan. If you’re able to come along and help you’d be very welcome!

Be you
Understanding your purpose and God’s plans for your life can help you become more you but it’s also hard to know how to figure it out. Be You: finding your way as God calls, is a webinar from the Church Mission Society Pioneer Mission Training team which will help you understand God’s plan for you right now and become more confidently and authentically you. Come along on Wednesday 7 October from 1pm to 2pm. Book your place now.

Big Knit is back!
Making Miracles annual Big Knit is back on Saturday 10 October, 10am to 1pm at Rochester Cathedral. Find out more.

Deanery Synod
The next Deanery Synod meeting will be on Thursday 22 October 2026 at 7:15pm at St John’ Welling. It’s local and the talk sounds very interesting so please do go along to be inspired. Find out more.

Coming up next month...

Be a lifesaver
Would you know what to do if you saw some having a heart attack and you needed to use the Defibrillator? Come along to a hands-on session on Saturday 14 November from 2pm to 4:30pm at the Church, which will cover these essential skills recognising a cardiac arrest, basic life support and how to safely use the defibrillator plus much more.  Find out more here. Book your place today by emailing info@brchurch.org.uk or speak to John.

It could be you
We’re still looking someone to represent BR at the Churches Together in Welling (CTW) meetings. CTW is a group which represents nearly all the churches in Welling. It meets five times a year (including one meeting for its AGM) to hear how other churches are building God’s kingdom here in Welling and to arrange joint church activities. We need someone to take BR news to the meeting and to bring news back from the other churches. Please speak to Mark, Grace or Karen if you would like to discuss this opportunity further.

Finally, we’d love to hear what you think of our new look weekly news. Please let us know how you have found it to use – could you find everything you want? Have you found it easier to use? Is all the information clearly laid out? Anything you didn't like? We’re still evolving how the weekly news will look and what will be included so now is the time to let us know your views. Please help us make the weekly news the best it can be by emailing info@brchurch.org.uk
