Falconwood commemorates the 80th Anniversary of VE Day

This Thursday (8 May) is 80 years since Sir Winston Churchill began his speech to let the British people know that war in Europe was over.
It was a time of relief, celebration and also continued mourning for those who had given so much for the freedom of others. It is etched in the nation's memory and has long been commemorated.
This year, Bishop Ridley Church will be open between 5pm and 7pm for private prayer and reflection. There will be an opportunity to light a candle. In the peace and quiet we will remember those sacrificed much so we could enjoy that peace.
At 6:30pm, Bishop Ridley will join churches and cathedrals around the nation as they let their bells ring out - an opportunity to reflect and give thanks for the peace that so many sacrificed their lives for during the Second World War.

On Sunday 11 May, during our monthly parade service with our uniformed groups we will again be remembering the events of 80 years ago.
We would love to see you at each of these events as Falconwood remembers and pays its respects.
